ESTES PARK — U.S. 36 near Estes Park reopened Sunday morning after a crash left one person dead and two others injured.
According to the Colorado State Patrol, the two-vehicle crash happened about four miles east of Estes Park around 6:30 p.m. Saturday. The driver of one vehicle and a passenger in the other were hospitalized. It's unknown which vehicle carried the person who died.
Troopers suspect the driver who was hospitalized was under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
State Patrol says the highway is closed in both directions while their Vehicular Crimes Unit investigates.
