Gunshot victim found in Thornton field

Police are asking anyone with information to call their tip line.

THORNTON, Colo. — Police are looking for information after a man was found dead in a field in Thornton Thursday morning. 

The Thornton Police Department (TPD) said they received a call at 6:30 a.m. to check on a person in an open field in the 500 block of East 168th Ave., which is just east of Highway 85.

When they got there, they found a man lying on the ground with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The Adams County Coroner's Office will release the man's name after he is identified and his family has been notified, police said.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen a suspicious vehicle or suspicious activity in that area between 8 p.m. Wednesday and 6:30 a.m. Thursday or who may have any other information to call the Thornton Police tip line at 720-977-5069.
