LAKEWOOD, Colo — Five suspects have been arrested and two are still wanted in connection with the ambush killing of a pregnant 22-year-old woman in Lakewood nearly a year ago, police said Thursday.
The Lakewood Police Department said Melanie Massay, 21, was shot and killed in the 1300-block of Zephyr Street on Feb. 28. The killing happened "during an ambush by multiple suspects," police said.
Police said Massay was pregnant at the time, and her unborn child was also killed.
In January, Lakewood police issued warrants for seven people in connection with the killing. Each was wanted for first-degree murder, police said.
Police said two of those suspects, 23-year-old Isaac Pierrie and 19-year-old Jaliyah Burks, are still wanted.
Police said five suspects have been arrested and are in custody in the Jefferson County jail. They are:
- Monte Hayes, 23
- ReaAsia Hollins, 20
- Trinity Walker, 18
- DaJanah Abrams, 25
- Jrayla Taylor, 22
Anyone with information on Pierrie's or Burks' whereabouts is asked to call Lakewood police, or call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867 or visit metrodenvercrimestoppers.com. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
