ARAPAHOE COUNTY, Colo. — A man accused of stealing an Arapahoe County Open Space truck from a park and then using that vehicle to commit multiple crimes in other areas of the Denver metro area is now in custody.
Late Tuesday afternoon, Broomfield Police identified the suspect as 35-year-old Paris Shannon. The agency said he was wanted on charges including burglary, motor vehicle theft, stalking, domestic violence, and harassment. Shortly after 4 p.m., police said he was in custody.
According to the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office, the pickup truck was taken Monday morning from Cheyenne/Arapaho Park at the corner of South Beeler Street and East Iowa Avenue. That's just east of the intersection of East Florida Avenue and South Parker Road.
The man, later identified as Shannon, committed several crimes while in that vehicle, the sheriff's office spokesman said. One incident was reported in Denver, and a second crime was reported in Broomfield. Broomfield Police did not provide details about the crime in their jurisdiction.
The victim of the crime in Denver reached out to 9NEWS. That person reported that their vehicle, which was parked, was intentionally hit by someone driving a vehicle with Arapahoe County markings on it.
According to the sheriff's office, the stolen truck was recovered around 6:30 p.m. Monday in the 8900 block of East Louisiana, not far from the area where it was taken. Multiple agencies set up a perimeter and used drones in an effort to find the suspect, but he was not located.
Investigators spotted the suspect again around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday and made entry into his apartment, but Shannon was not there. They left that area shortly after 9 a.m. Shortly after 4 p.m., Broomfield Police said Shannon had been arrested.
