FORT CARSON, Colo. — Special agents from U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command and military police are investigating a shooting at Fort Carson Army base in Colorado on Wednesday.

A shooting was reported at an on-post house near the post exchange around 1:20 p.m., according to a statement released by media relations chief Brandy Gill.

The situation was not an "active shooter"-type situation, but instead the result of an altercation at the home, the statement reads.

As a precautionary measure, access to the main exchange at Fort Carson has been restricted temporarily. Personnel at the base are asked to avoid the area until further notice.

One person suffered injuries that weren't believed to be life-threatening and was taken to an off-post hospital for care.

The investigation will be ongoing for some time.
