DPD tweeted at 4:18 a.m. that officers were on the scene of a shooting involving three men at the intersection of Park Avenue West and Globeville Road.
The victims, who were in the same vehicle according to police, were transported to the hospital where one of them was pronounced dead.
The Denver Medical Examiner's Office identified the man killed as 22-year-old Qalab Dessita.
One victim was critically injured while the other suffered minor injuries, DPD said.
Park Avenue West was closed from Interstate 25 to Larimer Street Friday morning while officers investigated.
DPD did not release any suspect information or any additional details on the shooting.
