DENVER — A 14-year-old boy was shot and killed Wednesday night in Denver, according to an update from the coroner.
Treaujalaune Lornes was shot in the 1700 block of South Monaco Parkway, near Cook Park around 8 p.m. Wednesday, Denver Police said in a tweet. He was taken to Denver Health, where he was pronounced dead.
He died from a single gunshot wound, the coroner said.
Lornes was a freshman at George Washington High School, according to a letter from Principal Kristin Waters.
The school canceled extra-curricular activities on Thursday and will be providing mental health support to staff and students, the letter says.
