DENVER – Five guests at the same downtown hotel have been hit with a scam phone call from someone pretending to be an employee at the front desk, according to the Denver Police Department.
Police say the perpetrator is calling guests in their rooms and telling them that the hotel lost their credit card information and they need it on file. They proceed to ask for it over the phone.
"The guests released their credit card information, along with their PIN, and shortly thereafter, felt a little suspicious," DPD Officer Everett Moore said.
The victims contacted the hotel front desk and realized they'd been duped into giving out their credit card information.
Police say they aren't releasing the name of the hotel to protect the business's privacy.
