ALAMOSA COUNTY, Colo. — A man pleaded guilty to killing five people in the San Luis Valley area of southern Colorado in 2020.
Adre Baroz, 29, nicknamed "Psycho," pleaded guilty Monday in an Alamosa courtroom to 13 charges, including five counts of first-degree murder. The other charges were:
- Five counts of tampering with a deceased human body
- One count of first-degree assault with a deadly weapon
- One count of second-degree kidnapping
- One count of second-degree assault with a deadly weapon
Prosecutors said that Adre Baroz committed the murders over two months from Aug. 25 to Nov. 13, 2020, the Denver Gazette reports.
Korina Arroyo, 31, of Monte Vista; Selena Esquibel, 19, of Alamosa; Xavier Zeven Garcia, 24, of Saguache; Myron Martinez, 31, of Del Norte and Shayla Hammel, 34, of Alamosa, were killed and dumped on properties near the New Mexico border.
Adre Baroz is accused of burning their bodies in a pit on remote land in Los Sauses, a tiny community south of Alamosa.
Adre Baroz's codefendants, 41-year-old Francisco Ramirez and 33-year-old Julius Baroz, also pleaded guilty in connection with the case. Julius Baroz pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit murder, while Ramirez pleaded guilty to three counts of tampering with a deceased human body.
Sentencing for all three men is set for May 3, according to court documents.
