ADAMS COUNTY – A probation supervisor in Adams County is on leave following a weekend arrest for felony drug possession in Nebraska.

Shauna Sanders, 45, has been a probation officer in Colorado since 1998.

According to a criminal complaint filed this week in Keith County, officers arrested Sanders on suspicion of, among other things, possession with intent to deliver cocaine and crack cocaine. The complaint also says investigators believe she was in possession of MDMA (otherwise known as Ecstasy) as well.

9Wants to Know has learned Sanders was put on leave this week following the Saturday arrest. A spokesperson for the Colorado Judicial Department said she is on leave and using vacation pay for the time being. When her vacation time runs out in two-and-a-half weeks, she will be put on leave without pay pending the outcome of both an internal investigation as well as the criminal investigation.

Nebraska authorities also arrested Albert Franklin, 42, on Saturday during the drug arrest. Both are out in lieu of a $50,000 bond.

Sanders was hired by the Adams County Probation Office in 1998 and became a probation supervisor in 2011.

Reached by phone Friday, Franklin told 9Wants to Know Reporter Chris Vanderveen that Sanders "had nothing to do with" the drug case and had simply been caught up in something she knew nothing about.
