Fort Collins murder suspect arrested in Michigan

Police said Tylen Grays was arrested on a number of felony charges, including first-degree murder in the shooting death of Keiter Baez Morales.

FORT COLLINS, Colo. — A man who was wanted for a deadly shooting in Fort Collins was arrested in Michigan on Tuesday.

Fort Collins Police said they identified Tylen Grays, 35, as the suspect in the shooting death of 31-year-old Keiter Baez Morales that occurred last month. A woman was also injured in the shooting that happened in a parking lot in Old Town about 1 a.m. Aug. 11 at 215 Remington St.

The shooting stemmed from an argument between two groups, Fort Collins Police said.

Grays was arrested on suspicion of the following felony counts:

  • One count of first-degree murder
  • One count of attempted first-degree murder
  • Four counts of menacing
  • One count of first-degree assault
  • One count of tampering with physical evidence

Grays also faces two potential misdemeanor charges.

“Grays brought violence to our community, and after weeks of diligent work leading to his arrest, we hope those affected feel as if this is a step toward a measure of justice," said Fort Collins Police Chief Jeff Swoboda in a news release.

Grays is being without bond and is awaiting extradition to Larimer County.
