Colorado mover convicted of felony theft after failing to deliver over $150,000 worth of property

The victims in Greeley hired Huseyn Nemat-Zoda to move their property. Then, he stopped responding to their calls.

WELD COUNTY, Colo. — A jury in Weld County convicted a mover from Aurora of theft after he failed to deliver over $150,000 worth of property to customers.

The jury found 40-year-old Huseyn Nemat-Zoda, the owner of H&M Relocation Services, guilty of two counts of felony theft Friday, according to a release from the Weld County District Attorney's Office.

In June 2021, the victims hired Nemat-Zoda to move their property from Greeley, Colorado, to Bloomington, Indiana, within 24 business days. Per the release, he did not put a moving contract together until after their items were already loaded onto his trucks and never gave them a copy.

Nemat-Zoda also reportedly charged them a "substantially higher amount than they had been previously quoted."

The release says that after 24 business days, the victims' property — worth $150,711.99 — had still not been delivered, and Nemat-Zoda stopped responding to calls.

They filed a report with the Greeley Police Department, prompting an investigation that found Nemat-Zoda rented and was in default status on more than 24 units at a self-storage business in Englewood — one of which contained the victims' items, according to the release.

A sentencing hearing for Nemat-Zoda is scheduled for May 9.

The Weld County investigation also found that similar allegations against Nemat-Zoda had been made throughout Colorado. In Denver, he was charged with one count of felony theft for a similar incident that took place in January 2022

Nemat-Zoda's arraignment in District Court for his Denver case is set for March 8.
