BOULDER, Colo. — A teenager will have to appear in court after being cited for speeding and reckless driving in Boulder.

Boulder Police Department said an 18-year-old driver was pulled over for driving 102 mph in a 60-mph zone.

Police said the driver was cited in a new Mercedes-Benz near U.S. Highway 36 and Table Mesa Drive.

The driver, who also did not have any insurance, was cited for reckless driving and given a mandatory court date to speak to a judge about his driving, police said.

"There is no excuse for such speed. It’s dangerous for everyone," police posted on X. "Please slow down and obey the posted speed limits."
