WESTMINSTER, Colo. — Lowell Boulevard was briefly closed Wednesday afternoon after a crash during a pursuit, Westminster Police said.
Officers responded at 2:17 p.m. to the 7200 block of Raleigh Street for a report of felony menacing. Police said two suspects pulled into a parking lot and began arguing with individuals who were loading furniture into a moving truck.
The suspects, a man and a male juvenile, both allegedly pointed guns at the victims, according to police.
As officers arrived in the area, they saw a car matching the suspect vehicle's description going east on 72nd Avenue and attempted to pull it over as it turned on to Lowell Boulevard.
The driver then attempted to pass a car in front by driving the wrong way in northbound lanes on Lowell Boulevard. Police said the driver clipped the car they were trying to pass, causing minor damage, before hitting a truck head-on at the intersection with Elk Drive.
The two suspects were both taken to the hospital, and the extent of their injuries was not immediately known. No other injuries were reported.
Lowell Boulevard was briefly closed between 69th and 72nd avenues while officers investigated.
Westminster High School was temporarily placed on secure status, which was lifted at 2:33 p.m.
