BRIGHTON, Colo. — The Commerce City and Brighton Police Sexual Assault Task Force have arrested a man who they say didn't show up to court to face child sex assault charges.
There had been a nationwide extradition warrant out for 47-year-old Jason Brigham.
Brigham was captured about 4 p.m. Thursday in Denver, Brighton Police (BPD) said in a release. BPD said they received a helpful tip from Castle Rock Police that helped lead authorities to Brigham.
BPD said three businesses also sent in valuable information to help in locating Brigham. They were Camping World in Golden, Berkenkotter Motors, and Win Win Financial.
Brigham faces 13 counts related to sexual assault on a child. He pleaded not guilty to the charges in May. He was set to appear in court for a jury trial on Wednesday, but failed to appear, according to court documents.
Police said a white pickup truck registered to Brigham was at the Adams County courthouse that morning. Brigham removed his GPS ankle monitor, and it was later found at a nearby bus stop, police said.
Brigham is being held in the Adams County detention center under a $1 million cash-only bail.
