Judge sentences man who sold drugs to students in exchange for money, sex acts

According to prosecutors, Aldair Garcia Rodriguez sold drugs to students attending various public schools throughout the St. Vrain Valley School District.

BOULDER, Colo. — A judge on Thursday sentenced a man to 35 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to human trafficking and drug charges.

Aldair Garcia Rodriguez will also have to serve five years of parole once he's released and must register as a sex offender.

He was among three people indicted in January 2023. He was initially charged with five charges, including three counts of human trafficking of a minor for sexual servitude and two counts of distribution of a controlled substance to a minor.

Garcia Rodriguez and his codefendants were accused of providing drugs to public school students in exchange for money and sexual acts.  According to prosecutors, Garcia Rodriguez sold drugs, namely cocaine, MDMA, marijuana, and marijuana concentrate, to students attending various public schools throughout the St. Vrain Valley School District.

Further investigation revealed that he coerced underage women to perform sexual acts in exchange for drugs.  

On Feb. 21, of this year, Garcia Rodriguez pleaded guilty to one count of human trafficking of a minor for sexual servitude, a class two felony, and one count of distribution of a controlled substance to a minor, which is a class one drug felony.

His plea agreement included a sentencing range of between 32 and 45 years.

“With his drug distribution operation, Aldair Garcia Rodriguez targeted and preyed upon young students and coerced them to engage in sexual acts. Today’s sentence is the right outcome. It is a direct result of rigorous efforts and outstanding teamwork by the investigators and prosecutors," said District Attorney Michael Dougherty.

Charges are still pending against his codefendants.
