JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. — The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is investigating a robbery and shooting that happened Friday night.

At around 6 p.m., a man reported he pulled his car into a parking spot at his apartment complex in the 11400 block of West Burgandy Avenue when he was approached by a man who pointed a handgun at his face through the open window and demanded his wallet and phone.

The victim gave up his wallet but not his phone and was hit in the face with the man's gun, the sheriff's office said.

The suspect then went to a green Subaru parked in the same parking lot, and the victim followed him north on Simms Street toward Belleview Avenue while repeatedly using his car to rear-end the suspect's car.

After one collision, the suspect's vehicle became high-centered on top of a large landscaping rock at Belleview Avenue and Owens Street, the sheriff's office said.

The suspect then got out of his car and fired several gunshots at the victim, hitting their vehicle, the sheriff's office said. The victim did not report any injuries.

The suspect and a woman who was a passenger in his car then ran away into the neighborhood. Deputies established a perimeter and conducted yard-to-yard searches with assistance from the K9 Unit and Drone Team, but were unable to find the man or woman.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's office at 303-271-5612.
