LOUISVILLE, Colo. — A man pleaded guilty this week in connection with the 2022 burglary of a home that was damaged in the Marshall Fire.
Nathan Liedtke, 37, pleaded guilty Wednesday to one count of second-degree burglary and one count of misdemeanor theft, according to court documents. Two other charges were dismissed as part of the plea agreement. He was given a deferred sentence and three years' probation.
The burglary happened March 19, 2022, the Louisville Police Department said at the time. Police said around 3 a.m. that day, a sergeant noticed suspicious activity near the entrance of a home and discovered a Chevrolet truck parked in the driveway. The sergeant called in the truck to dispatch to see whether it belonged to the homeowner and drove around the block as he waited for the information, an arrest affidavit said.
When he returned, he saw a man outside the home who appeared to have some sort of light with him, according to the document. When the man, later identified as Liedtke, saw the sergeant, he ran from the residence, the affidavit said.
The sergeant and another officer cleared the home and located numerous stringed instruments on the ground outside. When investigators contacted the homeowner, they learned that he repaired instruments.
The sergeant discovered items taken from the home in the truck and along the suspect's path, according to police.
