Andre Jones stabbed Officer Allan Fischer 12 times in April 2022, prosecutors said. Fischer is still dealing with medical issues related to the stabbing.

GOLDEN, Colo. — Andre Jones, 31, was found guilty by a jury Tuesday after a six-day trial for the attempted murder of a Wheat Ridge police officer in April 2022.

Prosecutors said the jury deliberated for four hours, and Jones was convicted of:

  • Second degree attempted murder
  • First degree assault by threatening a peace officer with a deadly weapon
  • First degree assault by intentionally causing serious bodily injury with a deadly weapon
  • First degree aggravated motor vehicle theft
  • Resisting arrest

Officer Allan Fischer was stabbed 12 times by Jones: 10 times in the neck, once in the chest and another in the back.

The stabbing happened April 13, 2022 in Wheat Ridge. According to the district attorney for Gilpin and Jefferson counties, Fischer and another officer were responding to a report of a U-Haul truck that had crashed into a fence.

According to the arrest affidavit, Jones refused to identify himself or get out of the truck. While Fischer attempted to escort him out of the vehicle, the affidavit said, Jones resisted and attempted to pull away. While resisting, Jones attacked and stabbed Fischer, the affidavit said.

Fischer is still dealing with medical issues because of the stabbing. He said he has another surgery scheduled for later this month to help with the pain in his neck.

Jones will be sentenced Oct. 10.
