ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. — A man faces charges including first-degree murder in connection with the death of his father in an Adams County home last week, the sheriff's office said.
Connor Paige, 30, was arrested in Elbert County on June 1.
According to an arrest affidavit written by an Adams County Sheriff's Office deputy, law enforcement responded to the home on Durango Street, in the Sherrelwood area of unincorporated Adams County, just after 9 a.m. that day. The suspect's brother had called 911 and said his father had been stabbed and was dead.
Deputies tracked Paige to Elbert County, where Parker Police officers found him in a van.
The suspect told deputies in an interview that he had beaten his father with a crowbar and cut his throat. He then left in his father's work van, the affidavit says.
Paige told deputies that he had smoked meth the night before, the affidavit says. He also told deputies that he has been diagnosed with schizophrenia.
The suspect had three protection orders prohibiting him from contacting the victim, the affidavit says.
Paige is charged with first-degree murder, motor vehicle theft and two counts of violation of a protection order, according to court documents. His next court appearance is set for July 19.
