AURORA, Colo. — A man who was shot in the roadway outside an Aurora apartment complex in mid-August has died of his injuries, the Aurora Police Department said Tuesday.
Police said the shooting happened around 11:30 p.m. Aug. 18 in the roadway near The Edge at Lowry apartments at 12th and Dallas streets. The day after the shooting, police said they found numerous shell casings outside the apartments.
Police said on Tuesday that the victim in the shooting died of his injuries at the hospital. He has been identified as Oswaldo Jose Dabion Araujo, 25. Police did not say when he died, but said he was identified on Aug. 27.
No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. Police are asking anyone with information that may help the investigation to submit a tip through Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP (7867).
The Edge at Lowry is listed as a property under CBZ Management, the same company that managed an apartment complex at Colfax Avenue and Nome Street that was recently deemed uninhabitable by the city of Aurora. Aurora city spokesperson Matt Brown said Aug. 19 that they have sent notices to the company for several code enforcement violations at the Dallas Street apartments in recent years.
Last week, a Facebook post by Aurora Mayor Mike Coffman said the city was seeking an emergency order to close apartment buildings where they have seen Venezuelan gang activity. Coffman's post did not identify which apartment complexes the city was attempting to shut down, but included a screenshot from a video taken at The Edge at Lowry.
