Man arrested, accused of pulling 14-year-old girl into apartment

The girl was able to get away and reunite with her family, who called police.

AURORA, Colo. — A man has been arrested on kidnapping and other charges after police say he forced a 14-year-old girl into his apartment, then groped her as she escaped and walked home, the Aurora Police Department said.

Police said it happened around 7:30 a.m. Sunday at an apartment complex on Potomac Street just south of Sixth Avenue. The suspect, 37-year-old Jhon Balestrini Ferrer, was arrested on charges of enticement of a child, sexual assault on a child and kidnapping, according to police.

According to an arrest affidavit written by an Aurora police officer, the girl was walking toward her apartment building when she noticed three men standing outside in the hallway. Two of the men began to proposition the girl for sex, the affidavit says.

As the girl walked up the stairs, the affidavit says, one of the men, later identified as Balestrini Ferrer, grabbed her by the wrist and pulled her toward his apartment, which was in a neighboring building. The girl told police the man pulled her inside his apartment. She tried to get away, but he overpowered her, the affidavit says. Once she was inside the apartment, she was able to push the man away and leave.

As she walked back to her apartment, the affidavit says, the girl noticed Balestrini Ferrer and another man following her. At some point while she was trying to make it home, Balestrini Ferrer groped her, the affidavit says.

When the girl got home, her family reported the situation to the Aurora Police Department. Officers arrested the suspect a short time later, the affidavit says.

Balestrini Ferrer's next court appearance is set for Thursday morning.
