DENVER — The teenage girl who was accused of shooting five people in Lower Downtown after she was denied entry to a bar pleaded guilty on Friday to a single count of attempted first-degree murder - extreme indifference.
Keanna Rosenburgh, now 18, was apprehended in California about a month after the shooting Sept. 16, 2023, outside Dierks Bentley's Whiskey Row, at 20th and Market streets. Police said security footage captured Rosenburgh firing a handgun indiscriminately into a crowd of people.
Police arrested Rosenburgh about a month later in southern California. She faced more than 20 criminal counts, including eight charges of attempted murder. All other counts were dismissed Friday morning in Denver court when she pleaded guilty.
The one charge she pleaded guilty to was amended to name all of the eight victims in the case.
The arrest affidavit in the case says a bar security officer “did not believe that the suspect was the same person on the driver’s license” she handed over. The ID belonged to a 25-year-old woman with a different name.
“As she walked away, she pulled a handgun with her right hand out of the chest area of her jacket and fired several rounds into the crowd behind her,” the affidavit says.
The affidavit in the case lists five victims, all in their 20s, who suffered gunshot wounds. Three victims suffered gunshot wounds to the leg, another was shot in the ankle, and a fifth victim was shot in the right big toe. A bullet also grazed the shoe of a bar staff member, according to records.
Rosenburgh will be sentenced at a later date.
Under the pea deal, she faces a sentence of five to seven years in the Youthful Offender System. A 21-year Department of Corrections (DOC) sentence was suspended. That means if she successfully completes her time in the youthful offender system she will not serve time in DOC. However, if her youthful offender sentence is revoked for any reason, she will face 21 years in prison.
