LONGMONT, Colo. — A man died early Friday morning after he was shot during an altercation outside a Longmont bar.
Officers from Longmont Police responded to the Speakeasy Bar at 301 Main St, at 12:32 a.m. for a report of a verbal and physical altercation. The two men involved had just left the venue when they got into the altercation outside, police said.
During the altercation, one of the men was shot. He died from his injuries. The Boulder County coroner identified him as 36-year-old Christopher Johnston.
According to police, the suspected shooter "promptly" called 911 and remained at the scene until police arrived. The shooting remains under investigation and so far no arrests have been made.
Anyone who was in the Speakeasy between 9 p.m. on March 28 and 12:30 a.m. on March 29 who has not yet spoken with police is asked to contact Longmont Detective Jon High at 303-651-8584. Longmont Police are also asking for any video taken by businesses or bystanders of the incident.
