LITTLETON, Colo. — Officers with the Littleton Police Department (LPD) were involved in a shooting that killed a suspect early Thursday morning.
At about 1:05 a.m., officers spotted a suspicious vehicle near the intersection of South Bannock Street and West Powers Avenue, according to LPD.
The suspect was riding a stolen motorcycle and crashed, LPD said. When officers tried to contact him, the suspect ran and produced a gun, LPD said in a release.
The responding officer fired at the suspect, according to LPD. The suspect was injured and transported to the hospital, according to LPD. The officer who fired was not injured, LPD said.
The shooting happened in the 5600 block of South Bannock Street in Littleton, according to police. That's near Broadway and West Powers Avenue.
There was a heavy police presence in the area as crews investigated the shooting, according to police. There is no threat to the community, LPD tweeted.
The Arapahoe County Coroner's Office identified the man killed as 41-year-old Stephen Poolson Jr.
