LEADVILLE, Colo. — A woman is dead and a man injured after a shooting in the early morning hours on Saturday in Leadville.
The Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) said Leadville police were called to a home after shots were fired in the 100 block of East 9th Street around 1 a.m. Saturday.
When officers arrived they found two people, a woman and a man, with gunshot wounds, CBI said. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The man was rushed to a Leadville-area hospital and then airlifted to a Denver hospital for further treatment. His condition was not known as of Saturday afternoon, according to CBI.
The people involved knew each other and lived at the home where the shooting happened, CBI said. Their identities were not immediately released.
CBI, Leadville Police, the Lake County Sheriff's Office and the 5th Judicial District Attorney's Office are all taking part in the investigation.
