LAKEWOOD, Colo. — A man was shot and killed by Lakewood Police officers early Monday morning.
Lakewood Police officers responded to the scene at about 3:32 a.m., according to Lakewood Police. Officers found a man trespassing on private property, police said.
The man displayed a gun and officers fired at him, according to police. The man was injured and taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries, according to police.
No officers were injured in the shooting, police said. The two officers involved in the shooting were placed on administrative leave, according to police.
Officers with the Lakewood Police Department have closed West Alaska Drive between South Wadsworth Boulevard and South Vance Street during the shooting investigation.
There was no estimate to when roads will be re-opened in the area.
