LAKEWOOD, Colo. — A mother and her boyfriend have been arrested after the mother's 2-month-old son died at a Lakewood home in July.

Lakewood Police said Lisa Marie Johnson, 31, and Alexander Avila, 33, have been charged with first-degree murder -- victim under 12 years of age by a person in a position of trust in the death of Ezra Johnson. Avila is also facing a felony charge of tampering with evidence, according to court records.

According to a release from LPD, on July 26, officers were called to a home in the 500 block of Vance Street on a report of an unresponsive infant. The child was pronounced dead shortly after officers arrived, police said.

The Jefferson County Coroner's Office determined Ezra's death was due to methamphetamine toxicity.

Johnson and Avila are being held in the Jefferson County jail, each under a $500,000 cash-only bail. Their next court appearances are scheduled for Dec. 18.
