AURORA, Colo. — Colorado State Patrol (CSP) is investigating a hit-and-run crash that left a man dead early Friday morning, the agency said in a news release.
According to the release, CSP said troopers responded about 1:15 a.m. to a hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian on Interstate 225 and Highway 83 in Arapahoe County. The southbound lanes of I-225 were closed until about 4:45 a.m. while authorities investigated.
The pedestrian, a 34-year-old Thornton man, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, CSP said. The driver left their vehicle, a Ford Econoline, at the scene and ran away, according to the release.
Cameras from the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) appeared to show several wrecked vehicles at the scene. Aurora Police Department and Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office also responded to the scene.
