The public is urged to be on alert after an inmate escaped from a correctional facility in Cañon City.
Robert Roberts, 22, was last seen on foot near the river between Mackenzie Avenue and Pathfinder Park, according to the Fremont County Sheriff's Office. The agency didn't immediately disclose how Roberts could have escaped from the the Skyline Correctional Facility.
At the time of his escape, Roberts was wearing dark green inmate clothing.
Roberts was serving an 18-month sentence after he pleaded guilty to one count of criminal impersonation and one count of criminal mischief.
Those within 2 miles of the prison were sent an emergency notification. Everyone is urged to avoid this area.
