LARIMER COUNTY- Two inmates at the Larimer County Jail were cited for disturbances Sunday.
While a corrections deputy was working in the high-risk inmate housing unit, inmate Steven McCranie attempted to spray an unknown liquid substance on the deputy, according to the Larimer County Sheriff's Office. McCranie then threatened to harm himself and the other deputies. The Special Emergency Response Team was activated and took McCranie to a secured area.
Later that afternoon, when McCranie was told about his new housing assignment, he removed a piece of metal he had concealed in his mouth and began to cut his arm. McCranie was restrained and treated for the injuries.
During the second incident involving McCranie, an inmate in a neighboring housing unit banged on cell doors and obstructed the window view. Inmate Derrick Gaworowski was found to be inciting the other inmates to join in the disturbance. When Gaworowski would not comply with deputies orders, the Special Emergency Response Team removed him from his cell.
No deputies were injured in either of these incidents.
Charges will be up to the Larimer County District Attorney's Office.
