The man who was shot and killed on April 10 was identified as 44-year-old Eric Spencer.
Idaho Springs Police found Spencer after receiving a medical assistance call at an apartment building at 345 Idaho Street in Idaho Springs. Spencer had been shot in the head.
A person of interest was arrested at the apartment, but that person was not charged and was released. No one else has been taken into custody in connection to the shooting.
"We understand that this horrific event is of intense public interest," District Attorney Bruce Brown said. "We will continue to diligently pursue all investigative leads in order to understand the occurrence and pursue charges against any individual who is criminally culpable.We appreciate the public's patience with this process, which we understand can be frustrating at times."
The case remains under active investigation.
