BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. — Human remains found near the 1000 block of Blue Mountain Road in Boulder County in September have not yet been identified, but the death is being investigated as a homicide, the Boulder County Sheriff's Office said on Wednesday.
The remains were found about 11 a.m. Sept. 24 along Blue Mountain Road, also known as County Road 71 North, which is northwest of Lyons in unincorporated Boulder County.
Given the condition of the remains, the sheriff's office said, they were initially unable to determine the gender of the person who died.
In a mid-November update, the sheriff's office said they were still working with the Boulder County Coroner's Office and other partners to identify the victim. The sheriff's office said they're investigating the death as a homicide but couldn't release additional information about the circumstances due to the ongoing investigation.
Information about the person's identity and cause of death will be released by the coroner's office once it's available.
The sheriff's office said they do not believe this death is related to another recent death being investigated near the 8000 block of Overland Road. That person was found on Sept. 14.
