BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. — A 75-year-old man who was walking in the middle of U.S. 36 was struck and killed by a driver who did not stop, according to a spokesman for the Colorado State Patrol.
The crash happened just before 11 p.m. Sunday on U.S. 36 near Longhorn Road in Boulder County. According to CSP, the victim, a man from Boulder, was walking in the northbound lanes of the highway when a driver, who was also headed north, struck him.
The victim was identified as Howard Pelerine.
That driver left the scene, according to the spokesman. As a result of the crash and investigation, the roadway was closed until shortly before 3 a.m. Monday.
In an update, the Colorado State Patrol said they believe the victim was struck by the driver of a white GMC Sierra or Chevy Silverado that was manufactured between 2007 and 2012. The driver has not been identified.

It's believed to have a chrome front bumper, black grill and possibly black wheels. Damage to the vehicle may include damage to the front driver's side bumper, as well as damage to the grill and fog light housing.
