GREELEY, Colo. — A teacher and cross country coach at Greeley West High School is facing charges for sex assault on a child by a person in a position of trust, according to a spokesperson for Greeley-Evans School District 6.
Richard Davis, who has worked at the high school since August 2013, turned himself into the Greeley Police Department and was booked into Weld County Jail, said Theresa Myers, the district spokesperson.
Myers said Davis was placed on administrative leave in July 2018 after the school administration received allegations of sexual assault from a student.
Davis remained on leave for the duration of the school year while Greeley PD conducted an investigation, Myers said.
"Greeley-Evans School District 6 takes these allegations very seriously and will continue to cooperate with Greeley Police on this criminal case," Myers said.
Greeley West High School is a public school located at 2401 35th Ave. in Greeley.
Anyone with information about Davis or the allegations is asked to contact Det. Elizabeth Finch at 970-350-9682.
