GREELEY, Colo. — Two people are dead after a crash involving a car and a motorcyclist who had just fled from an attempted traffic stop Wednesday night, police said.

The Greeley Police Department said just before midnight Wednesday, one of their officers came across a serious crash involving a car and a motorcycle at the intersection of 11th Avenue and the Highway 34 bypass.

The man on the motorcycle died at the scene, police said the driver and passenger in the car were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The woman riding in the car died at the hospital, and the man who was driving is still in the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police said their investigation revealed that an officer with the Garden City Police Department had tried to conduct a traffic stop on the motorcyclist in the 2700 block of 8th Avenue, but he sped off. The officer did not pursue the motorcyclist, who eventually turned westbound onto the Highway 34 bypass before speeding up and colliding with the car less than a minute later, according to police.

The names of the two people who died have not been released.

Anyone who has information about the crash and has not spoken with an officer is asked to call Greeley Police at 970-350-9605.
