GLENDALE, Colo. — The Glendale Police Department (GPD) said Wednesday it will not pursue criminal charges against NBA star Ja Morant.
The Grizzlies point guard was seen holding what appeared to be a gun in a live stream on his Instagram account in the early morning hours of March 4 after the Grizzles played the Denver Nuggets.
GPD said in a release that the incident happened at the strip club Shotgun Willie's.
The police department said it was not able to determine that probable cause existed for the filing of any charges.
GPD said it did not receive any calls for service at the club regarding a weapon of any type. No disturbances were reported to GPD, and no citizens or patrons came forward to make a complaint.
The investigation also concluded that no one was threatened or menaced with the firearm, police said, and no gun was ever found.
"Although the video was concerning enough to prompt an investigation," police said," there was not enough available evidence to charge anyone with a crime."
The NBA is also investigating the incident. It could fine or suspend Morant if it finds wrongdoing.
