Several people ran from a Toyota Rav4 that was involved in a crash in Fort Collins early Friday morning.

FORT COLLINS, Colo. — Fort Collins police investigators are looking for video of a hit-and-run crash as they work to determine who was driving the vehicle that struck and injured two motorcyclists early Friday morning,

The crash happened around 1:40 a.m. at the intersection of Laporte Avenue and College Avenue. When officers arrived, they located a man and woman who had been riding on a motorcycle near the intersection. Both had serious injuries.

Officers learned that another vehicle, a Toyota Rav4 had struck the motorcycle. The bike was stuck under the front of that vehicle in a parking lot nearby, police said.

According to police, the people who were in the Rav4 ran from the vehicle but were located nearby.

The Fort Collins Police Collision Reconstruction and Scene Handling (CRASH) Team is working to determine who was driving the Rav4 when the crash occurred. Police said the occupants of the Rav4 have not been fully cooperative with the investigation.

“Hit and run collisions are very serious offenses, and our CRASH Team will work diligently to identify who was driving the vehicle when the collision occurred,” said Lieutenant Mike Avrech who oversees the Fort Collins Police CRASH Team.

Investigators determined that Rav4 was headed north on College Avenue when it collided with the motorcycle which was headed west on Laporte Avenue preparing to turn left on College Avenue. Officers are working to confirm who had the right-of-way.

Police are asking anyone with information about the crash or who might have video of it or the people running from the vehicle to contact Officer Brandon Barnes at 970- 221-6540.
