Fort Collins chiropractor faces charges of unlawful sexual contact

Dr. Brian Rohrick faces two counts of unlawful sexual contact after a woman claimed he touched her inappropriately – police believe there may be additional victims.

FORT COLLINS, Colo. — Fort Collins Police are concerned there could be additional victims after a woman reported that she was touched inappropriately during several visits to a chiropractor.

Dr. Brian Rohrick faces two counts of unlawful sexual contact related to two different victims, according to Fort Collins Police. He turned himself in and was booked into jail Thursday. He was released on a personal recognizance bond after making his first court appearance.

Police began investigating Rohrick in January after a woman said he had inappropriately touched her over a series of chiropractic visits at Peak Performance Chiropractic at 1315 Oakridge Dr. in Fort Collins.

According to an arrest affidavit, a woman told a police officer Rohrick touched private areas in a manner that was not consistent with her prior appointments. She said Rohrick touched her sexually, and it caused her "shock" and "anxiety."

As they investigated her claims, police discovered that a different person made a complaint to the Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) in 2019. The woman reported "Dr. Brian crossed many client/patient boundaries including asking me invasive questions about my sexual history, putting his hand down my shirt, and offering me sexual favors."

The person who filed that complaint with DORA did not report the alleged incident to law enforcement.

"Officer Wootan knows based upon his training and experience that victims of sexual crimes are often reluctant to report what has happened to them for a number of reasons and that delayed reporting is commonplace," said the arrest affidavit.

Investigators reached out and spoke to the person who made that complaint. She did not wish to move forward with her reported assault in 2019.

According to the arrest affidavit, DORA in early 2020, decided not to take action against Rohrick's license as they had "no reasonable cause" to move forward with an investigation. The board did tell Rohrick, according to documents, that they were concerned with how he was communicating and interacting with female patients.

"Prior to physical contact with them, explain what you are doing and what is going to be done. Make sure you are professional and appropriate in all interactions," court documents said.

Fort Collins police reached out to Rohrick on the phone, and he told an officer he was "taken off guard" and that he would "never do that to a patient."

Rohrick's attorney contacted Fort Collins police, and shared video clips and documents from DORA's 2019 investigation. The attorney said the video evidence would prove his innocence in this case.

According to the arrest affidavit, Fort Collins police said there were consistent gaps in time between each video clip.

A warrant was issued this month for Rohrick. He is next due in court Oct. 31.

Investigators believe there may be additional victims based on the timeframe between the two incidents and the similarity of the offenses alleged.

Anyone who has information or who believes they have been victimized is asked to contact Fort Collins Police Detective Brandon Wootan at 970-416-8027.
