PUEBLO - A former law enforcement officer has been arrested for allegedly engaging in a sexual relationship with a teenage girl he met on an online chat site in 2008.
Marc Ziolkowski, 43, was arrested Tuesday in Goodland, Kansas, where he is on administrative leave from his position with the Goodland Police Department. Previously, Ziolkowski worked for the Colorado State Patrol and Fairplay Police Department.
The alleged assault happened in Park County, where Ziolkowski was assigned at the time with the Colorado State Patrol.
Colorado State Patrol says it was not aware of the criminal investigations or allegations until April 2015.
The Colorado Bureau of Investigation began their investigation in 2014, after the Park County Sheriff's Office obtained information about the incident.
Ziolkowski faces charges of sexual assault on a child, and is currently being held without bond in Wallace County Jail in Sharon Springs, Kansas.
According to CSP, Ziolkowski was employed from September 2003 to February 2010. He worked as a communications officer from 2003 to July 2005, before joining the CSP Training Academy as a cadet. He was later assigned to the Park County troop.
He resigned for unspecified personal reasons on Feb. 10, 2010.
