COWETA COUNTY, Ga. -- A former Denver Nuggets player has been arrested in connection with a violent home invasion in Georgia.
James Edward Hickson, Jr., who also goes by J.J. Hickson, was arrested over the weekend.
The incident happened Friday night just before 10:30 p.m.
Law enforcement was called to Rowe Road in Senoia, Ga. to investigate a house burglary that was in progress. However, when they arrived on the scene, deputies realized it was actually a home invasion, armed robbery and aggravated assault.
Deputies said the victim received medical treatment for injuries.
Hickson, now 29, was drafted to the NBA in 2008 and played for the Cavaliers until 2011. After his time in Cleveland, he also played for Portland and Sacramento.
Hickson signed with the Denver Nuggets in July 2013. The following February, Hickson recorded 16 points and a career-high 25 rebounds in a 95-100 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers.
Two years later, Hickson was waived by the Nuggets and picked up by the Washington Wizards.
He was most recently playing basketball overseas.
Hickson is being held without bail in Coweta County Jail in Georgia after being charged with armed robbery.
Senoia is a city of about 3,000 people located 35 miles southwest of Atlanta.
