Englewood Police locate truck linked to fatal shooting of woman

Suany Melgar Almendarez, 41, was found fatally shot Sept. 11 near South Vallejo Street and West Adriatic Place.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — After putting a plea for help earlier this week, Englewood Police said Friday they located a pickup truck linked to a fatal shooting last month.

Police found the victim, Suany Melgar Almendarez, 41, on Sept. 11 near South Vallejo Street and West Adriatic Place. That's a few blocks east of the intersection of South Federal Boulevard and West Evans Avenue.

Investigators believe Almendarez was killed the previous day, Sept. 10, police said on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, police said they were looking for a 2010 blue Chevrolet Silverado with license plate AWJ-C92 and asked that anyone with information on the pickup call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers.

In a social media post on Friday, Englewood Police said the truck had been recovered but did not provide other details.
