Man killed in downtown shooting identified

Two men were shot near 21st Street and Larimer Street on Friday night. Police say one of the men died at the hospital.

DENVER — The Denver Police Department (DPD) is investigating a shooting that happened in the area of 21st Street and Larimer Street.

DPD first tweeted about the shooting around 1:21 a.m., on Saturday. Two men were located in the area and transported to the hospital for their injuries, DPD said.

One of the men, identified as 22-year-old Jason Morales, died after he was transported to the hospital, DPD said. His death is being investigated as a homicide.

No information about any potential suspects was released Saturday morning as police were still trying to develop that information.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867 or visit metrodenvercrimestoppers.com. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000. 

Metro Denver Crime Stoppers works by assigning a code to people who anonymously submit a tip. Information is shared with law enforcement, and Crime Stoppers is notified at the conclusion of the investigation. 

From there, an awards committee reviews the information provided and, if the information leads to an arrest, the tipster will be notified. Rewards can be collected using the code numbers received when the tip was originally submitted.
