DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. — A man and a juvenile both face multiple charges following two armed burglaries early Tuesday in Douglas County.
Around 3:15 a.m. deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office responded to a business alarm at Sedalia Liquors at 5587 North Highway 85. While headed there, a deputy saw a blue Ford F-250, with two people inside, leave the Conoco at Happy Canyon and Highway 85 at a high rate of speed.
That deputy attempted a traffic stop, but the driver failed to stop and instead continued onto Castle Rock Parkway into the Meadows subdivision. The vehicle, which was stolen in Denver, was found abandoned but still running. A gun was found on the ground next to the vehicle., the sheriff's office said.
Deputies saw tracks leading from the vehicle into the field toward some buildings on the Waverton Ranch property and a Code Red emergency notification was sent to an area in the Meadows subdivision to notify residents of the police activity.
A perimeter was set up, and a drone flown by the Castle Rock Police Department was used to search for the suspects on the ranch property. The two suspects were spotted near outbuildings and taken into custody around 7:30 a.m., according to the sheriff's office.
Investigators believe the suspect also burglarized the Conoco in addition to the liquor store. At least one of them was armed with a gun during the burglary of the liquor store.
Both suspects, who have not been identified, face several charges, including burglary, eluding, and motor vehicle theft.
