Melissa Wright, a teacher in the Cherry Creek School District, was fatally shot in 2021.

DENVER — The ex of a Cherry Creek school teacher who was killed in Denver more than two years ago was sentenced Friday to 48 years behind bars.

On May 28, 2021, Denver Police responded to a shooting in the area of Pontiac Street and East Lowry Boulevard. That's where they found Melissa Wright, 41, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
