DENVER — Denver Police said on Friday they have arrested a suspect in the deadly shooting of a teenager in October 2023.
The Denver Police Department said on the afternoon of Oct. 12, 2023, Aurora Police officers responded to the 400 block of North Elmira Street on a report of a deceased person. When they got there, they found a teenage boy with apparent gunshot wounds.
The victim, identified as 17-year-old Angello Reyes, was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators learned the shooting had happened near the intersection of North Dallas Street and East 5th Avenue in Denver.

After an extensive investigation and with the help of DNA evidence, 32-year-old Quajon Houcks was identified as the suspect, police said.
Police said their investigation revealed Houcks was attempting to rob Reyes, which resulted in a brief struggle that escalated to the shooting.
Officers obtained an arrest warrant for Houcks on July 18 and arrested him on Thursday. He is being held for investigation of second-degree murder. The final charges will be determined by the Denver District Attorney's Office.
