DENVER — A teenager accused of killing a woman in 2021 will be tried as an adult, the Denver District Attorney's Office said.
Pamela Cabriales, 32, was shot while stopped at a light at Colfax Avenue and Interstate 25 in February 2021. She died several days later and left behind a 5-year-old son.
Prosecutors charged 18-year-old Neshan Johnson and a then-unnamed 14-year-old with first-degree murder. According to court documents, the two teens thought Cabriales had tapped their car from behind at a red light. Police said the 14-year-old, now identified as 17-year-old Remi Cordova, pulled the trigger and Johnson drove the getaway car.
The DA's office said Friday that Cordova's case is being transferred from Denver Juvenile Court to Denver District Court.
Johnson was sentenced to 35 years in prison in July after being convicted of second-degree murder and other charges.
