Downtown shooting leaves 1 dead, 2 injured

A man is dead after a shooting in the 2000 block of Market Street, Sunday morning.

DENVER — The Denver Police Department (DPD) is investigating a shooting that left a man dead, early Sunday morning.

DPD originally tweeted about the shooting at about 3:15 a.m., saying three people had been shot on the 2000 block of Market Street near 21st Street.

Police provided an update in a second tweet around 8:49 a.m., saying a man had died and the shooting was being investigated as a homicide.

The victim was identified as 23-year-old Dontre Williams by the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner, and the death was ruled a homicide due to a gunshot injury.

DPD did not release information on a possible suspect.

Anyone with information about this shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867 or visit metrodenvercrimestoppers.com. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000. 

Metro Denver Crime Stoppers works by assigning a code to people who anonymously submit a tip. Information is shared with law enforcement, and Crime Stoppers is notified at the conclusion of the investigation. 

From there, an awards committee reviews the information provided and, if the information leads to an arrest, the tipster will be notified. Rewards can be collected using the code numbers received when the tip was originally submitted.
