Police looking for vehicle involved in shooting in Sunnyside neighborhood

The victim was shot numerous times by unknown occupants of the vehicle, Denver Police said.

DENVER — The Denver Police Department (DPD) is looking for a vehicle involved in an incident March 10 in which a 57-year-old man was shot numerous times.

The victim was walking on the sidewalk in the 2400 block of West 40th Avenue, between Clay and Zuni streets in the Sunnyside neighborhood, about 9:30 p.m. when several occupants in the vehicle approached him.

The occupants and the victim had a confrontation in which the victim was shot numerous times, causing him to be seriously injured, according to DPD.

The vehicle then left the scene, DPD said.

Anyone with information on the vehicle or its occupants is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867 or by visiting metrodenvercrimestoppers.com. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.

Metro Denver Crime Stoppers works by assigning a code to people who anonymously submit a tip. Information is shared with law enforcement, and Crime Stoppers are notified at the conclusion of the investigation. 

From there, an awards committee reviews the information provided and, if the information leads to an arrest, the tipster will be notified. Rewards can be collected using the code numbers received when the tip was originally submitted.
