DENVER — A man with a "distinctive waddle" is wanted for robbing multiple banks so far in the new year. An advisory tweeted out by Metro Denver Crime Stoppers calls the man the "Penguin Bandit."

While the moniker given to the man is humorous, Denver Police said he's wanted for robbing three banks in a week's span earlier this month.

The first bank to be robbed was the Zing Credit Union located at 1095 N. Federal Blvd. around 3:15 p.m. on Jan. 2.

The suspect then robbed separate Canvas Credit Union locations on back-to-back days the following week.

The first Canvas location robbed was located at 2027 S. University Blvd. near the University of Denver campus just before 5 p.m. on Jan. 8. The following day the suspect hit the Canvas location at 815 N. Colorado Blvd. around 5:30 p.m.

In each of the robberies, police said the suspect presented a demand note while also verbally demanding money.

The suspected robber is described as being:

  • 35-45 years old
  • 5 feet, 11 inches to 6 feet, 1 inches tall
  • Blue eyes
  • Heavy build
  • Distinctive walk
